Kids
Whether the sun has got her hat on or not (currently: not), the kids are still going full pelt for the summer holidays. Top of their riders? New backpacks (for sleepovers and first flights) and ice cream, invariably at 8am. Me? I’m splashing out on sized-up kids’ Salt-Water sandals because, well, Salt-Water sandals – before reining it in with forever cool (but cut-price) kids’ tops. Great for layering, even better to share.

Part of my mission to be a smidge more ‘adult-y’ involves learning to cook (tagines, not fish fingers) and tablescaping like a pro – with casually placed carafes (‘hydration stations’ are so 2024) and portable table lamps, for indoor and outdoor hosting. And while I’m busy trying to convince guests that ‘adult-y’ is in fact a word, Jet Bot can sweep up the couscous and fish finger cruds. I mean, I can but dream…
Fashion
I say it every season, but the beauty of a clever capsule wardrobe is thus: you have what you ‘need’ – anything on top of that is for fun or function. Then, lo and behold, said new season saunters in and I’m overcome with a sudden urge for something new. This summer I’ve developed a penchant for wafty linen co-ords (Reiss’s pieces are delish) – preferably in khaki, terracotta or beige – washed down with some designer-inspired sandals (IYKYK) and a raffia bag or two. For the functional? There’s Dock & Bay’s 100% recycled Quick Dry Towel – compact enough for kids and carry-ons, it’s also satisfying my stripes habit.
