Hand-me-down kidswear

Maggie Westhead,-Digital editor

Why John Lewis & Partners’ timeless kidswear is made for handing down

With Earth Day (22 April) more crucial than ever, attention naturally turns to our shopping habits. There's no escaping the fact that dressing up the little ones is a fun activity. The problem is, children grow fast and thousands of tonnes of kids’ clothing ends up in landfill each year. To help reduce waste, John Lewis & Partners' has introduced new labelling (on FSC paper, of course) to around 700 items of own-brand childrenswear items with the message: ‘Wear it, love it, hand it down.’ The garments also feature an organic cotton label inside so that subsequent owners can cross out the names of previous owners and write their own. Buy less, buy better quality and take pride in handing these items down.
