Products showing as out of stock
If the item you would like to buy is online but out of stock, you can submit your email through the 'Email me when available' link on the product page, and we will contact you when your item is available.
If the item isn't sold online only, you can also check if it is available in your nearest John Lewis shop. Simply note down the 8 digit product code and check if the item you are looking for is in stock.
Checking stock availability
You can also check the stock availability of many of our items right from our website or app. We update these figures every two hours.
Our shop stock levels change very quickly. If the stock is available online, it may be best to order online and arrange home delivery, or you can Click & Collect from your nearest John Lewis or Waitrose shop.
On our Apple or Android App
Some products will give you two options:
- See in store: This shows you which shops have the product on display. Generally, this option appears for larger items like washing machines.
- Check in-store stock: This shows you a list of shops that may have the product available to buy.
On our website
On some products, you will find a 'Check in-store stock' option below the 'add to basket' button. This shows you a list of shops that may have the product available to buy.
Why do we display products that are out of stock online?
We continue to show out of stock products online so that you have access to the product details or so that you can buy it online at a later date once more stock has been delivered, or to find it in our shops.
When shopping online you can choose to filter your product search by in-stock items only.
Out of stock after ordering
If your item is out of stock, we’ll email you to let you know. If you’re happy to wait and the item comes back in stock within 28 days, you’ll be billed and the item will be shipped to you. If it’s still not available within 28 days, we'll cancel your order and refund you.
If your online order is sourced from one of our stores and we are unable to fulfil the order, we will cancel the order and refund you. An email will be sent to you if this happens.
