  • About John Lewis High Wycombe

John Lewis High Wycombe opened its doors on 18 October 1988. It was the first of our shops to be built in an out of town location.

Having experienced great success over the years, we’re looking forward to embarking on a multi-million pound refurbishment in 2013 which will allow us to introduce fashion, footwear and beauty to our ever expanding product range.

Click on our News and Community Information tab to see how our refurbishment is going.

The service is available for most but not all of the items we sell, so please check individual product pages when you place an order. News and community information

Our refurbishment begins…

After much talk in the local area and in the shop over the past months and years, our project to bring fashion departments to John Lewis High Wycombe is finally underway!

To begin with it’ll involve us clearing lots of space in our current warehouse and office areas to make way for new and exciting departments, whilst at the same time totally refurbishing the entire shop. Our existing Home and Electrical areas will receive a brand new look alongside the new areas, so we’ll really be ready for October 2013 and beyond!

The project will also add a second customer lift, more seating and a refreshed look in The Place to Eat, and see the opening of a brand new fitted bathroom assortment. Our Buying teams are working very hard at the moment to bring the best brands to our new Beauty, Womenswear and Menswear departments.

In addition to refreshing existing areas and creating new departments, we’ll also be offering a new range of services with shoe fitting, fashion advice and lingerie fitting to name but a few.

Our work on the shop floor starts in April and will finish in October. We’ll be open as usual throughout the refurbishment and our Partners will be on hand to help guide you through the shop as we complete the work.

We’re very excited about bringing these changes to you and hope you are too, we can't wait to share them with you!

Pride of Bucks

We're delighted to be sponsoring Pride of Bucks, an event aimed at recognising the unsung heroes in our community; people who have overcome adversity and those businesses which make our town a better place to live.

The award scheme has been organised by the Buckinghamshire Advertiser and Buckinghamshire Examiner newspapers, in partnership with Chiltern District Council and South Bucks District Council.

You can nominate someone you know either in our chosen category, Local Hero, or any of the other 13 categories by picking up a form from our Customer Collections point.

The categories are: Local hero; Community champion; Cultural contribution; Child of courage; 999 service personnel, Young carer of the year; Young person under 18 years old; Young person 18-25;  Healthy lifestyle, Environmental project; Health worker/team of the year; Business in action - under 50 staff; Business in action 2 - more than 50 staff; Employee of the year.

The closing date for nominations is 24 May.

Supporting our communities

Our aims

We're proud of the close links we forge between our Partners and local schools, charities and organisations. And wherever we do business, at home or abroad, we work with communities to make a difference. That's why:

  • Our Community Matters programme in our shops continues to support local charities and community groups.
  • We aim to give at least 1% of pre-tax profits to community initiatives.
  • We will continue to seek out projects that support the John Lewis Foundation at home and abroad.

And so far we have...

  • Donated £2.2m to our communities in 2012.
  • Launched Bringing Skills to Life, our programme to help people learn the skills they need to succeed in life.
  • Formed strategic partnerships with experts in the field of community work, such as UK Youth.
  • Made community meeting rooms available for free in 19 of our shops.
  • Launched cotton farmer training in India to help farmers grow more sustainable cotton and improve their livelihoods.

Community Matters is a charitable giving scheme that runs throughout our shops.

Every 3 months each shop selects 3 community groups to help. Customers are then directly involved in deciding how much each nominated group receives, by using a token to vote for the organisation they'd like to support.

Each shop has £3000 to donate which will be split between the charities according to the proportion of the vote they've received from customers. This means that if a charity receives 31% of the votes, it'll receive a £930 donation.

Charities will receive support in whichever way will benefit them the most, either in the form of John Lewis products, volunteering time from Partners, or as financial support.

The Community Matters boxes will be located in catering areas of each shop. Customers will be given one token per transaction, and will be able to follow how much of the vote each organisation receives over the 3 months.

Organisations eligible for Community Matters include charities, schools and relevant community groups. Partners will look at the requests that are submitted and choose 3 organisations to support for the following 3 months. Organisations that would like to be considered for Community Matters should visit their local John Lewis to pick up a nomination form.
