Originally designed as a textile and translated as an exceptional embroidery, Persian Tulip Embroidery features elegant teardrop-shaped motifs connected by striped ribbons.
This updated design honours the traditional Persian aesthetic admired by William Morris and John Henry Dearle. A striking diagonal layout leads the eye through the piece, where tulip heads are nestled within a chevron ribbon. What sets this embroidery apart is its tactility: a dissolvable foam and fabric paper is used in the stitching, before overdyeing, pooling colour across the cotton threads for a rich, aged, artisanal effect with a sculpted surface. This technique echoes the innovative spirit of Morris himself. Due to the overdye process, a unique finish is created, creating subtle differences from batch to batch.
