Inspired by a standout piece from the Royal School of Needlework collection, this beautiful crewelwork embroidery kit features a striking pheasant taken from the fourth panel of an original four-panel screen. Surrounded by elegant flowers and flowing foliage drawn from the same design, it creates a rich and harmonious composition.
Worked on linen twill using Appleton's crewel wools in a vibrant palette of colours, the project showcases the texture and character of traditional crewel embroidery. With a focus on long and short stitch and trellis stitch, it offers an excellent opportunity to develop these key techniques, alongside whipped chain, stem stitch, fishbone, closed fly stitch, French knots and bullion knots.
