Q & As

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 60 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality shoe rack We recently bought two of these shoe racks for our hallway. I had read the reviews in advance and wondered how bad they could be, but I should have listened to the poor reviews and not bothered. The quality of these Wenko shoe racks is incredibly poor and far below that which you'd expect John lewis to stock - they certainly didn't live up to my expectations. The wood is untreated and would have needed both sanding, to remove sticking out splinters of wood, and varnishing before use. The quality was flimsy and I wasn't confident that the shoe rack would last long at all once assembled I would only recommend these shoe racks if you want a cheap version to put somewhere like your garage, out of sight, but to be honest you can buy cheap shoe racks of equivalent low quality elsewhere for less. We have now returned these and purchased the more expensive oak shoe racks instead which are of a much better quality that you'd expect from John Lewis. 10 April 2016

Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality Unbelievably poor quality, even at this price. It was returned. 19 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product Really happy with this and I'd buy more in the future if needed. It's sturdy and the ability to stack them is a proper bonus! 08 March 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK but only just I agree with FranTB's review. The wood is finished only just well enough, and had some serious blemishes (knots). The quality is the very minimum that John Lewis should be selling. I could make it presentable only by switching the components around between the two packs I bought, to have a good side visible. But I give it 3 stars not 2, because it is reasonable value, it is easy to assemble, it is strong enough for the purpose, it stacks very well (I bought two), and, because the shelves are horizontal, low/flat shoes don't slide off. 28 February 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good value shoe rack. It's neat & tidy, in the hallway below the coat rack. Comfortably fits 6-8 pairs. Self assembly the ends onto the shelves i.e. 4 pieces total. Decent finish. Not available in-store but did click & collect, arrived promptly. 02 February 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Disappointing quality I ordered 2 of these shoe racks, having been happy with a very similar item purchased from another company a couple of years ago, for about the same price. When the John Lewis shoe racks arrived they were clearly inferior to my previous purchase. It was clear the John Lewis items had been 'cost engineered' down by a factor of 20% or so. Every piece of wood was 20% thinner than the original item, making them less sturdy and the screws were flimsy. I had been under the impression this was a European product however the packaging showed that the European walnut wood had come from PRC (People's Republic of China) and the inference is that the item was also manufactured there. In all, not a particularly satisfactory product. 27 September 2015
