Benchwright was inspired by an early 20th-century worktable that belonged to one of the Pottery Barn designer's great-grandfathers. Its rustic wood frame features handcrafted details like mortice-and-tenon joinery, giving it a strength and simplicity we love.
Seating 3 people easily, the foundation is expertly constructed from solid poplar, a straight-grained, medium-density hardwood, forming the apron, frame, and legs. The structural integrity is further secured by the oversized bolts on the legs and a metal support bracket with turnbuckle details for enhanced stability. The wood itself is kiln-dried for durability.
The seat is crafted from wood veneer over MDF, while the use of veneers ensures elegant, consistent colour tones and surfaces that are resistant to cracking. The overall build features robust 5-ply construction with tongue-and-groove joinery.
A rustic, salvaged aesthetic is achieved through intentional design accents, including grooves and saw marks on the wood. The hardware, which includes the decorative support bracket, features an antique bronze finish.
For practicality, the bench is fitted with adjustable levellers on the legs to ensure stability on uneven floors, making it a reliable and stylish addition to your dining space.
