Like the well-appointed trunks that were popular during the golden age of rail travel, this piece is built with durability and style in mind.
The frame, drawer, wine cubby holes, stemware racks and outside mouldings are specifically crafted from solid, kiln-dried gmelina wood. The robust frame is engineered with triangular corner blocking for maximum reinforced strength.
The cabinet's appearance is achieved through a meticulous, multi-step process. It is finished by hand with an oil-based antiqued application, which is then sealed with a protective lacquer to ensure moisture resistance and enhance its durability. Adding an industrial touch, the outer edging of the piece is made from forged aluminium sheet metal.
Practical features include a removable drawer constructed with English-dovetail joinery and fitted with rubber drawer stops for safety, along with a removable wine rack
that holds 12 stemware glasses and 12 individual wine bottles.
There are latches and key locks on both doors, while magnets ensure the doors stay securely closed when not locked. Adjustable levellers are included to guarantee stability and prevent wobbling, even on uneven floor surfaces.
